- After studying abroad in Managua, I am looking for ways to find adventure and humor in everyday life.
Ever since I went to Honduras for the first time in 2006 and saw Jesus in the face of kids in poverty- I was in love. The warm, welcoming culture, the Spanish language, the food- I was taking it all in. But I soon realized that my romantic image of saving the world on a mission trip was over-simplified and kept me from truly learning all that I could from the people. So, this summer I'm spending 2 months as an intern with Project Transformation in Honduras, staying with Rey, Elise, and Elijah Diaz. I am excited to be challenged in my faith, to fall more deeply in love with the Honduran people, and to learn to know God in the midst of suffering. Join me as I embark on my journey!

I love all your updates. As for what do you say to these children, or adults, it's hard. You could just say hi and "What makes you happy?"
They will astound you with their answers. Usually people from other countries are so amazed by the most simple and beautiful things, and we Americans just miss it with our busy lives. You should download Kristen Getty's song "Don't let me lose my wonder." She is a Christian that has an amazing voice and missions in Africa. But these kids will tell you what makes them happy and it will amaze you such as "Watching a spider spin its web." Or Watching the same bird come back the 2nd day. Peace to you! Love every minute of your day and I love you and your blog!!!!!!!!!!!!
